What to Consider When Checking a Camper Weight
You will frequently come across websites that publish RV weights without specifying the kind of weight or merely referring to dry weight (UVW). However, keep in mind that while towing a camper with your truck, all weights and loads, including persons, must be considered. So, in my experience, the Gross Weight (GVWR) is the only weight that matters when determining whether or not you can pull the RV. I don’t generally place much emphasis on dry weight because I want my RV to be fully loaded. So, from my perspective, the gross weight is an important weight that I will consider when determining whether or not I will be able to tow the travel trailer. Therefore, if I’m looking for the Best Bunkhouse Travel Trailer Under 5000 lbs, I make sure the camper’s gross weight is less than 5000 pounds.
This Gross Weight Rating (GVWR) is the sum of the camper’s Dry Weight (also known as the UVW or shipping weight) and the Load Capacity weight, and it is referred to as the gross weight, total weight, or “GVWR” weight. Before purchasing and towing a Bunkhouse Travel Trailer, always read the owner’s manuals for the vehicle and accessories. Also, be completely aware of your vehicle’s towing capability based on the arrangement you’re utilizing. Towing capacity varies with load, vehicle layout, number of passengers, and extras.
