Here is some new information for 2023.
The Benefits of Electrical Power
The Chevy Silverado electric truck is coming soon and changing the market as we know introducing electric trucks.
Before talking about design and technology, I think it is more important to mention what General Motors has achieved with the capabilities of the Chevrolet Silverado EV. First, it should be made clear that it uses the Ultium platform for electric vehicles, which is characterized by better energy efficiency and construction with a lower amount of rare minerals. This same platform supports the GMC Hummer EV.
Chevrolet did not specifically state the battery size for each model, but they did make it clear that the Ultium platform can accommodate up to a 200 kWh pack. They also estimate a range above 400 miles (644 km) per charge for each variant.
Initially, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will be launched with two versions, the access and focused on work called “WT” and the most equipped of all with a multipurpose approach called “RST“. These two models and the intermediate variants that will be added to the range later will have a dual engine system, one per axle, so it will always have active four-wheel drive, although, of course, thanks to a selector of driving modes can regulate the management of the same in different ways.
Chevrolet Silverado EV Towing Capacity
In the following paragraphs, let’s review the electric Chevrolet Silverado towing capacity in the models Chevrolet Silverado EV WT and Chevrolet Silverado EV RST.
Chevy Silverado Electric. The working Chevrolet Silverado EV WT will produce a total of 510 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque (834 Nm). Chevrolet Silverado EV towing capacity is 10,000 lbs (4500 kg) and a payload capacity of 1,200 lbs (544 kg). Chevrolet mentioned that after its launch it will offer a complementary Maximum Towing package, which will allow it to increase the towing capacity from 10,000 lbs (4500 kg) to 20,000 lbs (9072 kg). As already mentioned, the brand estimates a range of 400 miles (644 km) miles per charge.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV RST, which will be positioned as the most complete variant, will use the same powertrain, but in this case, its engines will produce 664 hp and just over 780 lb-ft. It will have the same towing capabilities and adaptability to receive the maximum towing package. Where there is a slight change in the load capacity because according to the brand, this variant can carry up to 1300 lbs (589 kg).
In addition, the RST model will have a mode called Wide Open Watts, which will allow it to do 0-100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. As a launch, it will have a special edition called Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition that will have air suspension and a steerable rear axle as standard, among other improvements.
In summary, we can say that we will have two versions of towing capacity for the Chevrolet Silverado EV, one with a capacity of 10,000 lbs (4500 kg) and the other with a capacity of 20,000 lbs (9072 kg).
UPDATE 2023: Recently the folks at Chevrolet conducted a test of the Chevrolet Silverado EV’s towing capability. In this test, the Chevrolet Silverado EV towed a 7700-pound (3500 kg) travel trailer without any difficulty. You can watch the video below.

Chevrolet Silverado EV Payload Capacity. The payload capacity of the Chevrolet Silverado EV is 1,300 lbs (589 kg). We do not yet know if the higher-power version will have more payload capacity, but we will update the information.
Futuristic and Imposing Appearance
Chevrolet’s pickups, like those of its competitors, have managed to perfectly capture a square and imposing style in each of its models. The same is true of the Silverado EV but is now adapted to a futuristic style. In terms of body configuration, it will only be offered with a double cab for any version.
It will also have available elements such as LED lighting at the front and rear, and wheels up to 24″. Normally the bed can carry things up to 71″ (1,803 mm) long, but optionally you can mount the Multiflex Mid Gate that gives you the ability to divide the bed and the cab can be retracted to fold down the rear seats and create an even larger cargo area, thanks to that you can carry items up to 107″ (2,743 mm long).
Finally, if the Multiflex Tail Gate is added, you can carry items up to 130″ (3,302 mm) long because the trunk lid can stay down and in turn deploy an edge that allows you to keep the load securely inside the bed.
As expected, Chevrolet will have a huge catalog of accessories for the trunk and even for the front trunk, with organizers or special boxes for any type of need and equipment. They also ensure that along, the vehicle can have up to 10 plugs that can feed different types of tools, in addition to having the ability to share the electrical load with other cars if necessary.
You can now reserve your Chevrolet Silverado EV through Chevrolet’s official website. The first Chevrolet Silverado EV units are expected to be available in early summer 2024.
