Cheap RV Parks in South Florida for 2022-2023

In the search for cheap RV Parks in Florida, there are also many other options besides the Florida State Parks that are usually fully booked many months in advance. Also, if you don’t have a seniority discount, you will find that other parks can be even less expensive. We have prepared for you this selection of the best and cheap RV parks in South Florida for the 2022-2023 season, including in the Florida Keys. In this article, we summarize what amenities these RV parks offer, the cost, the location, and why we choose them out of the many affordable RV parks in South and South-Central Florida. Let’s see how much they are and what they offer!

How Much Are RV Parks in Florida?

When you compare the costs of RV parks you will see that those RV parks in Southern Florida above the Keys are less expensive than those located in the Keys. The Florida Keys area is generally the most expensive area even if it is an RV State Park.

To find the best rates and cheap RV parks in Florida you should keep in mind that while there are over 250 RV parks in Florida, many campgrounds are part of Florida state parks. Therefore, consider that there is an admission fee to the park in addition to the cost of the stay. This adds to the total cost of the stay, which is not present at RV parks and resorts that are not part of these State Parks.

If you plan to tour several Florida state parks, have extended stays, or are a large family group, then it is advisable to purchase the annual pass (either individual or group) which ranges from $60 to $120 depending on the number of people in your party. So, instead of paying a separate price for each person, consider purchasing an individual annual entrance pass (about $60) or a family annual entrance pass (about $120, which includes up to 8 people in a group).

This rate varies from park to park but you should calculate approximately a $7 reservation fee for the entire stay, which is non-refundable, and another $7 per day for a fully hooked up RV. In some parks the reservation fee can be a little more expensive, about 20 or 30 dollars non-refundable and with a charge of 10 dollars if instead of canceling you want to move the dates.

Where to Find the Cheapest RV Sites in Florida

There are about 52 RV State parks available in Florida. Our idea here was to focus exclusively on the South Florida area, including the Keys, and show you some of the advantages of what we believe are the best cheap RV Parks.

You will see that we selected RV sites and campgrounds with very different landscapes, activities, and amenities. In addition, we include some other cheap options for campers that are not state parks, because it often happens that Florida state parks are fully booked, even 6 or 10 months in advance.

If you can schedule your trip in advance, or if you are flexible on dates, the Florida state RV parks we show you in this article are our recommended Must-Do and should be on the bucket list of everyone who travels the United States.

As we are also looking for cheap, affordable, let’s consider what is the cost per day, month, and annual and what services and amenities are included.

how to tow a car behind an rv

What to Consider Before your RV Trip to Florida

One thing to consider when evaluating the cost-effectiveness of an RV park is that you don’t go for the cheapest one you can find, just because it’s cheap and offers good amenities. You need to consider if the cheap RV park is suitable for your RV.

Small travel trailers under 25 feet generally have no problems at most RV parks. However, they may have difficulty accessing certain campgrounds within an RV park, even if they are 25-foot travel trailers. This occurs at the Bahia Honda State Park, where it is not possible to access Sandspur Campground if the RV is longer than 23 feet (measured from hitch to bumper).

Also, if you are looking for beachfront RV parks in Florida, fifth wheels and long motorhomes are generally not allowed on the beachfront first row.

Most Florida RV State parks are prepared to have RV sites up to 40 and 70 feet, but our advice is not only to choose for the price but also to check these details to avoid complications. Also, it is recommended to know in advance before your trip to Florida what is the best way to tow a car behind an RV. This is especially important if you’re looking for RV sites in the Florida Keys, where even maneuvering on some routes could be problematic.

Lake Manatee State Park

The Lake Manatee was formed in the mid-1960s by the construction of a dam over the Manatee River. Despite the park’s name, visitors will not be able to observe manatees since the dam prevents them from accessing the lake. Anglers may fish from their boats or from the park’s fishing piers on the lake, which provides great freshwater fishing.

A boat ramp makes it simple to reach the lake for boating, canoeing, and kayaking, although boat motors must be less than 20 horsepower.

The day-use area includes a swimming beach for people who wish to cool down on hot summer days or simply soak up the rays. A spacious picnic place is set among the trees near the lake.
